AspenPlus Programme

From 2004, top secondary schools and junior colleges in Singapore started to adopt the Through-train programme. This 6-year programme (from Sec 1 to JC2) scrapes the traditional path of having to take the ‘O’ Levels examinations and allows students to proceed straight to study for their ‘A’ Levels examinations. Students from different IP schools undergo different syllabus from the standard cohort as well as one another. For example, a student from Nanyang Girls' High will be studying different topics from a student from Raffles Girls' High. On top of that, students in the same school may be covering different modules.

At Aspen Learning Centre, the AspenPlus Programme offers premium classes that are customized to suit students from various schools such as RGS, RI and DHS.

IP Lower Secondary Science Programme for RGS

RGS adopts a modular system for its lower secondary science programme where its students will be taught all three Science modules in the course of two years. The students are separated into three different groups with each starting off with a different module – Biology, Chemistry or Physics. Each module lasts for a period of around 6 months, following which they will continue the next semester with another module. After all three Science modules are taught, students will undergo the CSI module.

Under this programme, students from different classes may be going through different modules and preparing for different examinations concurrently. At Aspen Learning Centre, our IP LSS Programme caters specially to the needs of these students where they are allowed to change modules when their school does so. On top of that, we also offer Forensic Science classes that match the syllabus of the CSI module that the school is teaching.

IP Lower Secondary Science Programme

This programme is designed to suit the needs of students from DHS, NYGH and HCI. In this modular system, students will be taught all three Science modules in a year but at different times. The students are divided into three separate tracks with each starting off with a different module – Biology, Chemistry or Physics. Once their respective first module ends after 3 months, the students will move on to either one of the remaining two modules.

At the same time, students from separate classes may be undergoing different modules and sitting for different examinations. At Aspen Learning Centre, our system is tailor-made to be parallel to the curriculum of these schools - when students switch to a different module in their schools, they will be switched to that particular module at our centre as well.
